Drilling Holes to Monitor Water Levels

Considering the implications of a ‘seasonal perched water table’, we decided to have two holes drilled so we could monitor exactly what was happening with the water below grade.

We engaged the drilling firm to return and drill two six-inch holes in the front yard. The first hole was exactly where the other hole was in the front, with the second hole as close to the house as the drilling rig could be.

The first hole would be drilled to 25 feet deep, and the hole nearest the house would be drilled to 14 feet. The logic was to pump water from the deep hole and see how that affected the water in the hole nearest the house.
