Before we start putting the yellow cedar shakes on our gable roofs, we have to establish the placement of those shakes.  Specifically, we need to establish the exposure of the shakes to the weather, the placement of the waterproof material between the shakes, and the fastening schedule.

To start the detailed design, we laid out some shakes inside the house, showing different weather exposure.
